March- leadership styles

In class we have been discussing many new topics. It think the topic of leadership styles is very interesting. Today we turned in the leadership style matrix that we completed. When I took the matrix test I was a team leader. It think that this is accurate. I also think that each person can change throughout their lives and move to different areas. I know when I was younger I was probably considered an authoritarian leader. As with other aspects of this class I also believe that people can change their style based on the situation or what type of group they are in.

The article we read had some different ideas as well. Discussing relational dialogue helped me to better understand what the article was trying to explain. We talked about how not just one person might lead but that there might be a need for emergent leaders in different areas. I think this is true in many situations. Since we are all in many different groups throughout our day I believe we should all take this in to consideration. How do you think trusting and creditability relate to relational dialogue?

February

Lately we have been talking about communication and proper ways to use technology on the job. I believe that these are both important topics. Using technology has become incorporated throughout our daily lives. It is hard to imagine a day with out any technology, no alarm going off on my phone or no traffic lights. Without technology our days seem to turn to chaos. I think it is very important for college students and working professionals to know the proper etiquette to while using technology.
What ways do you think employers can help their employees to learn correct ways to use technology?

Leadership in action

Leadership is important for everyone, it effects us in more ways than we will ever know. In class we discussed the many characteristics that can be used to describe leadership. Some of these included honesty, being a good listener and the willingness to share responsibilities. There are countless qualities that can be considered when thinking about leadership. Knowing these qualities can help empower us to strengthen them and help us to be better leaders in our lives. I believe one of the most important ideas that was brought up is that leadership has many different definitions and can be interpreted in many unique ways by others.
